While Cricket remains Pakistan’s most popular sport, it was introduced fairly recently during the British colonial period. Many sports have played around the country for far longer times. POLO- The widely recognized game of Polo has its origin in the steppes and from there it was spread to India by Turkish invaders. The modern game of Polo has its origins in the Indian state of Manipur .

OX Racing – It is a traditional sport popular in the rural areas of Sindh and is an integral part of the Sindhi folk identify.
SQAY – This form of martial arts has its origin in the Kashmir region. The sport was in danger of disappearing due to the Kashmir conflict but now enjoys rising popularity.
KABADDI – This ancient form of contact sport originating form India and remains very popular in the interiors of Punjab and Sindh.
GULLI DANDA- This popular amateur sport is played on the streets of town and rural areas of the sub-continent and has now spread as far as Italy.
KITE FIGHT- Another amateur sport popular in Paksitan. The participants try to snag each other’s kite or cut the line.
YAK POLO – A modified version of the standard game of Polo where players ride on yaks which are more adapted to higher altitudes.
BUZKASHI – An ancient game from central Asia it is still played in some parts of KPK. The objective of the game is to try and drag a dead goat towards the goal.
FALCONRY -The practice of falconry was probably introduced in the sub-continent by invading Turk. Today it remains a popular game among the rural elite.
