Honey calms an irritating cough better than any cough syrup in the world.

Drinking tea or warm lemon water mixed with honey is an age old remedy  to soothe a sore throat. But honey alone may be an effective cough suppressant, too.

Below is the most perfect recipe to make most effective cough syrup using honey:

Ingredients

  • 1½ tablespoons – zest of 2 lemons
  • ¼ cup – peeled, sliced ginger , or ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1 cup – water
  • 1 cup – honey
  • ½ cup – lemon juice

Combine lemon zest, sliced ginger and 1 cup of water in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes, then strain through into a heat-proof measuring cup.  Rinse the saucepan out and pour in 1 cup of honey. Heat the honey on low flame, but do not let it boil or burn. Add the strained lemon ginger water and the lemon juice. Stir the mixture until it combines to form into a  thick syrup like consistency . Pour into a clean jar with a lid.

Consume daily till the cough is completely cured.
