A stuffy nose comes along with the cold winter season as the viral seems to be in the air.

It is the most annoying feeling, it  keeps you irritated. So instead of switching to antibiotics and other medication, here are a few home remedies to help you clear your nasal track and relive you from the sniffling.

Sleep with your head in an elevated position:

This reduces mucus formation. Any position that brings a kind of stress on the sinus aids mucus formation. It is recommended to sleep with your face up facing the ceiling.

Sniff an onion:

It is so simple that all you have to do it slice and smell. The onion will act as a catalyst to secrete a liquid to clean your nose. Do this for 5 minutes and you’re all clear.

Say yes to spicy food:

When you eat spicy food, a chemical called Capsaicin found in the spices makes your nose run helping you clear your nasal passage.

Drink lots of hot beverages:

Hot drinks release steam which helps thin the mucus. Hot drinks, particularly tea, coffee and hot chocolate can free you from a stuffy nose and when you cough, it will release the mucus making you feel much better.


Add few drops of menthol to the hot water. Then cover your head with a towel and then inhale the steam. Covering your head with a towel will ensure that no steam escapes and you can inhale all of that menthol steam.
