10 Pakistani Stars Who Have Been Awarded With National Recognition

There are a number of phenomenally talented stars in Pakistan. Their contributions to the entertainment industry have always been remarkable.

Here are 10 Pakistani stars who have achieved national recognition for their contributions in the industry and their fabulous performances.

Mehdi Hassan

Mehdi Hassan also known as “Shahensha-e-Ghazal (King of Ghazals)” was a renowned Pakistani ghazal singer who proved his mettle not only in Pakistan, but globally. He has been awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Nishan-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance by Pakistani government.


Reshma, renowned folk singer of Pakistan who was discovered by Salim Ghani on Shahbaz Kalandar’s shrine singing a mystic song. With no formal musical training, she is still the best in her field and is indeed a naturally gifted singer. She has won many awards in Pakistan and India and in recognition to her achievements has also been awarded with Sitara-e-Imtiaz by Government of Pakistan.

Moin Akhtar

Moin Akhtar was truly a treasure- he changed the Pakistani television industry. This man was truly amazing – it is only after centuries that people like Moin Akhtar are born. Due to his remarkable performance and contribution , he was awarded the Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Anwar Maqsood

Anwar Maqsood is a famous scriptwriter, television host, satirist, humorist and actor. He has been famous for his sketches in Fifty Fity and writings in plays and shows such as Show Time, Angan Terha, Studio Dhaai, Loose Talk and the likes. He has also been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Abida Parveen

Easily labelled as “one of the greatest singers of the world”, Parveen has mastery over singing in a myriad of languages ranging from Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi and Persian. The legendary Abida Parveen is undoubtedly a source of pride and recognition for Pakistan. She is the recipient of the coveted Pride of Performance award, the Sitara-e and Hilal-e-Imtiaz, and numerous Lifetime Achievement Awards.


The veteran actor was awarded the star in recognition of his services to Pakistan in the field of Arts. Shakeel has been around since the long time and has achieved recognition for his acting .At first declared a heartthrob by the Pakistani media, he was also the first Pakistani to be featured on the cover of Herald magazine. Shakeel was bestowed with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz this Monday, 23rd March 2015 on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Qavi Khan
Qavi Khan has been among the pioneers of theatre in Pakistan, making significant contributions to the development of the theatre industry. Muhammad Qavi Khan was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his services in the field of performing arts.

Salahuddin Tunio

Salahuddin Tunio was always a very powerful actor who was seen in many popular dramas in the past, but it took him a lot of hard work and time to win this repetitious medal. The father of Fahad Mustafa has also been awarded with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

Shehzad Roy

Pakistan’s pride Shehzad Roy has been using his fame and popularity for positive efforts since he established the Zindagi Trust in 2002. Zindagi Trust is a NGO that aims to educate the children of the country. Through great hard work, dedication and positive intentions, Roy has reformed public schools, lobbied to the Pakistan government to implement it’s educational policies and educate working children. He is the recipient of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civil award in recognition of his excellent services in public sector.

Atif Aslam

Pakistani singing sensation, Atif Aslam is well known for his voice and most people might know that he has been awarded ‘Tamgha-e-Imtiaz’ by Government of Pakistan in 2008. He is the youngest ever (25 years then) to receive this honor, which is the Highest Civil Award of Pakistan. Due to his ever increasing popularity Atif went on various tours around the globe taking his music to the world. Atif Aslam was the third Pakistan act ever to perform in the prestigious “Royal Albert Hall” in UK. At the time, he was the youngest among all the Pakistani acts that performed before him and also had spent the least amount of time in the industry.
