Winter usually means staying indoors and enjoying the warm comfort of cuddling in your blanket. All we want to do is slip into hibernation mode, forget the world, sip on hot chocolate and watch back to back movies. In short it means layering up and minimum activity. This laziness only adds up to your fat which you will definitely regret once the season changes.

Here are  3 fun winter workout ideas that will keep you fit and those extra pounds away:

1. Skip

If you haven’t picked up a jump rope since fourth-grade gym class, winter is the perfect time for a skip down memory lane. Relive your childhood and burn 135 calories in just 10 minutes with an effective skipping workout. Not only will you lose weight and stay active, you’ll also sculpt your shoulders, chest, arms, and legs. The best part about this is it doesn’t require you to go out either, you can easily do this workout in your warm and cozy bedroom.

2. Plank

Beat the winter blues that  tend to make you feel lazy and useless and find the motivation to stay healthy. Try the plank, it is one of the best exercises to build up your core muscles. It will stabilise you through your ankles, hips and shoulders, and build your upper body muscle at the same time.  All you need is the floor and some great willpower,  just get into a push-up position and hold it. Don’t bend your arms, keep your body straight from shoulder to toe and hold this position for about 30 seconds. Do this daily and feel the difference.

3. Squat

Squat it! They’re sometimes referred to as the king of all exercises, and that too for all the right reasons. Squats are a full-body fitness staple. Stand with feet a little wider than shoulder-width apart, hips stacked over knees, and knees over ankles. Stretch out your arms forward with palms facing down. Now jump back into a squat position inwards with feet hip-width apart and repeat the exercise for 45 seconds.
