5 Bollywood Celebrities Who Choose Social Responsibility Over Money


While Bollywood stars such as Shahrukh Khan and Ashwariya Rai Bachan have been coming under some sharp criticism for using their fame and name to endorse products that label them as socially irresponsible. There are some Bollywood celebrities who take this responsibility very seriously, pick what they believe in over money and turn down even the biggest offers to endorse irresponsibility.

Below is a list of 5 Bollywood giants who choose their beliefs over money:

Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut turned down a Rs 2 crore deal for endorsing a fairness cream. She said, “Ever since I was a kid, I have never understood the concept of fairness. Especially, in such a case, as a celebrity, what kind of an example would I be setting for younger people? I have no regrets about turning this offer down. As a public figure, I have responsibilities.”

Amitabh Bachchan
Big B turned down an ad glorifying dowry, know why? Because he has responsibility towards the society.  He was to feature in a advertisement campaign showing Eveready Industries’ Jeevan Saathi torchlight as a lucrative dowry item, turned down the offer on grounds that it would encourage the evil social practice.

Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan took up the social responsibility of creating awareness about social welfare through his popular show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ on Star Plus and he was highly appreciated for that bit. He reportedly turned down a luxury car endorsement because he only wants to work on ads that are socially relevant. He is rumored to have cancelled ad deals amounting to a few crores.

John Abraham
Brands have approached John time and again for endorsements but he has been very responsible with his choices. Being a health and gym freak, he has clearly stated that he will never endorse any tobacco or alcohol-related products.

Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi of Bollywood knows not to play with the society, he  turned down an offer from a paan masala brand even when the offer had some ‘crores’ attached to it!
