Beware: The dangers of drinking too much milk

Milk is known for being a very nutritious drink with plenty of  health benefits but recent studies are proving that excessive consumption of milk may actually do more harm than good.  If you are consuming more milk than your body needs, the following can happen to you:

Increased risk of cancer


A recent study has shown that certain types of sugar found in milk may lead to oxidative stress which can damage cells and increase the risk of cancer.

Digestive problem


Drinking too much milk may make it harder for the body to break down the large quantity of lactose found in the milk and this can lead to a number of digestive problems such as diarrhea and cramping.

Iron deficiency

Excessive consumption of milk can adversely impact iron absorption. While this is not a major heath concern for adults; among children, it can lead to a server condition called anemia.

Since everyone’s daily needs are different, it is recommended to consult a dietitian on the optimal level of milk one should drink everyday so to avoid these adverse effects.
